Flavor fusions are one of my favorite things to create in the kitchen, and this recipe combines Korean, Chinese, and Cajun cultures for explosive flavor in every bite.
One of the best things about this recipe is that it can all be prepared in one pan!
The honey creates another layer of flavor that provides a perfect sweet element to balance out the spicy sauce!
Spicy Honey Gochujang Chicken
A flavor fusion you'll love!
- 12 drumsticks (I prefer dark meat)
- 6 cloves garlic, crushed
- 3 tablespoons ginger
- 2 red chili flakes
- 3 tablespoons honey
- ½ cup soy sauce
- Tony Chachere’s BOLD or MORE SPICE Seasoning, to taste

- Mix together garlic, ginger, chili, honey, soy sauce and Tony’s seasoning in a bowl and stir.
- Add in chicken drumsticks and coat with marinade.
- Pour chicken and marinade in a plastic bag or leave in bowl and cover with saran wrap, and let marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours (longer the better).
- Once done marinating, remove from fridge; add just enough oil to coat a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat.
- Add chicken to skillet (save the marinade for later) and fry chicken on all sides for about 10-15 minutes. Stir and flip chicken often to prevent marinade from burning. Adjust heat if needed.
- Once chicken is cooked through, remove from pan and set aside.
- Adjust heat to medium, add in reserved marinade and gochujang, and stir; add in more Tony’s seasoning and mix with sauce. Taste and adjust to your desired flavor and spiciness.
- Bring up to a boil and stir until the marinade thickens into a sauce.
- Add the chicken back in the pan and coat with the sauce. Bring heat down below boiling and continue to fry chicken until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and sauce completely coats the chicken.
- Add to serving bowl and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
